Vimukthi is a Technical Writer and regular Contributor to the Motor magazine. He holds a BSc (hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka, the country's premier engineering university. Specialising in manufacturing engineering, Vimukthi is passionate about Automobile Engineering and has been part of several award winning design and research projects during his time as an undergraduate. These include an EV design which won the CATIA award for design excellence 2013 in Tokyo, Japan, as well as his final year design project "Development of an Extended Range Electric Vehicle Conversion System for Conventional Automobiles ". Vimukthi joined Diesel and Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) as an intern in 2013. After graduation, he began his career as Training Engineer at DIMO. He is currently Manager of the DIMO Academy for Technical Skills - Sri Lanka's only institute to offer Automobile Mechatronics and the only institute accredited to offer German Dual Vocational Training. Vimukthi is also a certified trainer and holds the German trainer qualification "Ausbildung der Ausbuilder". Furthermore, he is the current chairperson of the Vocational Education Council of Sri Lanka , facilitated by the German Chamber of Commerce (AHK).
